Keys to a Successful Year

Making Goals & Keeping Track

Everyone wants to make resolutions when the New Year swings around.  Making goals that they want to achieve for the year, some big, some not so big, but to make an overall change somewhere. It could be career, personal, or other, but everyone seems to have resolutions every New Year. I used to also be a part of the resolution making until recently, in the last 2-3 years I have started focusing on goals rather than resolutions. Now that we are a couple weeks in it is time to reflect on what was made, and see if we can continue to strive to meet our goals for the year.

Here are some of the keys I found, which helped me learn and grow the past few years.

- Make goals in small portions, even daily goals such as waking up earlier, or going to sleep earlier.
- Small goals help build confidence, the more you reach the better you feel, the more you can build upon those little wins.
- Make daily goals, then build on each for the weekly goals, then use those to build on your monthly goals, and so on and so forth.
- Keep track of your goals reached, and the ones your building towards.

Make a list of your strengths and weaknesses.
- Make a weekly goal to build on one strength and strengthen one weakness
- Alternate as needed. Don't worry about repeating, the repetition will build it into habit.

Plan on time to spend with your family and loved ones.
- We get caught up in all that is happening around us, sometimes we forget to give attention to those that are closest to us.
- Take some time out to spend with family, friends, love ones, etc. You never know how much appreciation a person can have for just a little bit of your time.

Make time for yourself.
- Maybe it is reading time at the end of the day
- Maybe it is meditation, yoga, or prayer, but make sure you take some time out for yourself per day.

These are just some of the more important keys and tidbits I have tried to work on the past few years. Keep in mind to stay positive, and try to keep the negative things out of your life as much as possible. The world has a lot to offer, but you may miss the positive offerings in your life, if you are caught up with the negative things that are going on. Hopefully, this is something that will be as helpful to anyone reading this, as it has been for the quality of my own life.

Happy Planning, and Remember to Always Stay Positive!
